To web search, or not to web search, with Romeo and Juliet in my thoughts, was the issue this week.
It looks as if the sky is the limit when it comes to search engines. I believe the sky has no limits because search will carry on developing and advancing. I think we will always be one step behind. There is so much to read and analyze in order to check if the search meets our needs. However, there is no doubt, our lives have been changed by the Web.
When I search for information on the Web it is very easy for me to “get lost”. Unless I don’t have time, I carry on searching and reading all the resources I find. This is what happened when I used NODDLE TOOLS. It was a real challenge.
Deborah Healey's technology tips were very helpful. As I mentioned above, I tend to spend a lot of time searching for information if I don't narrow down the search terms and the way I write them.
I had Romeo and Juliet in my thoughts. I wanted to find something I could use in class to improve and to innovate the activities related to the play. When I found SWEETSEARCH, I saw an opportunity to share an educational tool with my students. I can say that technology is at the service of Master Shakespeare. When we want to read Romeo and Juliet, technology is there to help us.
As far as my learning objective according to Pennsylvania State University's ABCD style is concerned, Romeo and Juliet was also present.
(C) Having read Romeo and Juliet, (A) the students (B) will write a 6-line dialogue between two characters (D) that illustrates the “ancient grudge” between the two families.
The Project task 1 was focused on a group of students who are attending the 9th Year. They started reading Romeo and Juliet on 10th April. Right now we are comparing some dialogues in the adapted version to the original text.
After reading the articles suggested on the course’s page, we realize that online environments motivate students and promote their learning.
Classifying objectives is not easy when we have to make sure the behaviour expected is observable and the degree is measurable. With clear objectives our students will be able to accomplish the activities we design for them.
Even Bloom’s taxonomy was adapted due to technology development. This century learning environments must be compatible with technology.
