In an excerpt (“Seven Tips for Building Positive Relationships with English-Language Learners”), Larry Ferlazzo refers to the fact that we “must learn about [our] students' experiences and backgrounds in order to connect them to new learning.” Knowing about their interests, their learning methods, and their goals in life, will help us develop activities which make the difference in order to help them gain more understanding of the language, develop their cultural awareness.
· I learnt about the use of technology to communicate, collaborate with others.
· I learnt about the use of technology to promote effective student collaboration, and increase their achievement.
· I practised with search tools, skill-building websites, project-based learning, and online teacher resources
· I learnt about "writing behavoir-based learning objectives, learning styles, learner autonomy, teaching large classes, the one-computer classroom, and a variety of assessment techniques.
· I was given the right tools to plan my lessons differently and effectively.
After reading the different articles, after exploring the possibilities of the different search tools, websites and teacher resources, we should always ask ourselves:
- How does this apply to my teaching practice?
- How can I improve my digital skills?
- How can I make a difference in my school?
- How can my students make a difference?
I still recall the first day of the course. I have learnt so much since that day and my teaching practice has improved so much.
This was a great opportunity. Therefore, THANK YOU:
